Krysta & Will

A year after we met, on the dot, we moved in together. The rest was history.

This month we are excited to feature Krysta & Will. We celebrated their beachy, intimate wedding in September of this year during the height of COVID. Now proud parents of two kitties (Kilo and Gram) - rescues from Krysta’s last deployment to the Middle East - their original wedding plans fell through. Read on to see how they made it happen.

Tell us your story.

We met in Boston. I was in grad school and Will had just accepted a new position at his firm. Our first date was a 2 hour lunch where we bonded over our shared love of animals, fantasy fiction, and talking with our hands. This quickly turned into us filling our social calendars with several events with one another. A year after we met, on the dot, we moved in together. The rest was history.

COVID [was our biggest challenge]! We were so ready and set to go back in May. When our plans changed not once but twice, it was great to know Speechless had our backs the whole way.

Music is a huge part of our lives. I was in the marching band in high school and I think Will once played the clarinet. But those are just details. Will likes to play a silly game - whenever a song is playing, no matter where we are, he likes to ask “who sings this song? What’s the name of this song? What’s the next line?” At first, it was always so frustrating because he always knew the answer and I rarely do. But after having dinner with his parents, and his dad asked his mom the same slew of questions, and I saw how similar our responses are (or lack thereof), it’s become a favorite.

I wish I had a better answer, but [we found our vendors through Google]. We booked a DJ first, and when I was looking for strings for the reception, I found Speechless and KNEW we needed [them] for everything.

Will and I picked the songs with his parents on a family vacation earlier this year. I previously mentioned that Will and I have a passion for fantasy fiction so our bridal party walked down to Lord of the Rings. In addition to silly books about magic and dragons, we also love broadway — so it was a no brainer that I’d walk down to Phantom of the Opera.

How would you describe your wedding?

Coastal Elegance! Is that a thing? We got married on the water in Cape Cod. Because of COVID, we had a very small and intimate ceremony with our friends and family. And for those who couldn’t make it, we actually zoomed it!

Wequassett was just stunning. Our backdrop was perfect, the weather was amazing. We were pretty lucky. For us, we knew we wanted to be near the water so this was the [venue] for us.

Everything was perfect. I wish I had Speechless for the dinner as well but because of head count restrictions and vendors counting against the State’s COVID mandate, we unfortunately couldn’t.

I loved all of my vendors and would recommend them to EVERYONE for anything you need flowers, hair, makeup or photos.

THE SOUNDTRACK

Walked down the aisle to… Phantom of the Opera

We didn’t have a first dance, mother/son, father/daughter dance because of COVID!

What were your special request songs and why did you choose them?

Our other special request was the lord of the rings — In our free time, Will and I curl up on the couch and read a lot of fantasy fiction. We actually had a dragon hidden in the flowers on our wedding invite.
